New year – New You

New year is one of my favourite times of the year. It’s like we get to start a fresh and get our teeth stuck into new things, New people to meet, New experiences to have. We have this optimistic view that everything is suddenly going to change and we are going to transform into this new shinier version of ourselves.

Well at least that’s how I view New Year. And even if it doesn’t last I think it’s a great way to start the year. This year I started with a clear head (no hangover) fresh as a daisy, start as I mean to go on. I’ve got my plans and goals and am hoping to achieve them all. I do have more motivation this year than any other. Turning 40..eek.. and still so much I want to do.

Here is a few that may inspire you

Learn a new language.

Been learning spanish for the last 20 years..on and off.. I’m now fluent in Spanglish.. and only I can understand me. .

I realized learning a language is a whole new skill altogether and the process of acquainting with a new language and culture is a totally a mind-opening experience.

Pick up a new hobby.

Beyond just your usual favorite hobbies, is there something new you can pick up? Any new sport you can learn?

Examples are fencing, golf, rock climbing, football, canoeing, or ice skating.

Your new hobby can also be a recreational hobby. For example, pottery, Italian cooking, dancing, wine appreciation, web design, etc.

Learning something new requires you to stretch yourself in different aspects, whether physically, mentally or spiritually

Take up a new course.

Is there any new course you can join? Courses are a great way to gain new knowledge and skills.

It doesn’t have to be a long-term course – seminars or workshops serve their purpose too.

I’ve been to a few workshops and they have helped me gain new insights which I had not considered before.

I love Udemy courses and I’m now on my 15th. They are fun, cheap and a fab way to learn just about anything.

Create an inspirational room.

Your environment sets the mood and tone for you. If you are living in an inspirational environment, you are going to be inspired every day.

Minimise

So I have been on this journey for the last year or so. It is actually harder than just chucking your wordly goods out. Especially with a family, but it feels amazing and cuts cleaning by more than half and saves me a tonne of time deciding what to wear or searching through a pile of junk to find a bloody bobble. I now have places for everything…. well almost everything.

I have a tonne of other things I want to do this year, climb some munroes, go on a meditation course, take some amazing photos of some wild animals, do more yoga, laugh more, lighten up, volunteer with animals, my list goes on and on.

Right I must go as one of my resolutions was to spend less time on the Internet.

Regular Sun Exposure: This is essential for vitamin D production, low levels of which are linked to depression. But even beyond vitamin D, regular safe sun exposure is known to enhance mood and energy through the release of endorphins.

Bruce Lipton – Change Your Programming

I came across Bruce Lipton years ago when he released the book ‘The Biology of Belief’. I am fascinated with the subconscious mind and how our thoughts create our reality.  This guy just merges science with spirituality, quite like a lot of other high profile science guys (Gregg Braden, Dr Joe Dispenza etc) who have realised the power of our heart.

A little bit about him –

Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D., a pioneer in the new biology, is an internationally recognized leader in bridging science and spirit. A cell biologist by training, Bruce was on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine and later performed groundbreaking stem-cell research at Stanford University. He is the best-selling author of The Biology of Belief and received the 2009 prestigious Goi Peace Award (Japan) in honor of his scientific contribution to world harmony. He has discovered that our subconscious is running the show and the beliefs have been installed from the age of 0-7.  We can reprogramme our mind so don’t freak out, this is where mindfulness comes in, heart focused breathing, practicing compassion for ourselves and others, feeling gratitude for every little thing and much more.   We all want to live happier, fearless, purposeful lives and Bruce is here to share with us what he has learned from his own experiences and from his scientific research.

My notes from Bruce Lipton videos and what I find useful in developing a happier healthier life.

  1.  BE MINDFUL??We need to find out what our programming is? from 0-7.  You may wonder how you can tell what these programmes are as you cant remember such a young age.  You simply look at your life now and you can tell what sort of programming you had installed.  What works and what doesn’t.  Look at the programme that you run like – Programme of weakness, programme of limitation, programme of victim, my programme that I need to suffer in order to help others..or programmes that I am unlucky in love or programmes I loose at all games.
  2. Then you look at how you change these programmes.
  3. The conscious mind is creative, you can read a book and gain knowledge, or learn to drive a car or paint a picture. The subconscious mind is a recorder and plays back just like a  recorder.  That means it learns in a different ways.  The first 7 years your brain is working at a low level frequency called Theta which is like hypnosis so a child up until 7 is recording everyone’s behaviour from those around us.  But after the age of 7 we learn from repeating and practicing.  Like how do we learn the times tables at school, well we repeat and repeat until it sinks into our subconscious mind.
  4. New age sort of people say FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT… because repetition forms the habit.  So just fake it till you make it every day that programming is installed.  Repeat Repeat Repeat
  5. Rapid relief change – Energy Psychology? Super Learning – what exactly is it? Like speed reading you can reprogramme your mind a lot quicker.  Woweee..changing our belief in 5 minutes..this is just out of this world amazing and I shall list the many at the bottom of blog.
  6. We cant talk to the subconscious mind as there is no one in there, look at it just like a recorder, a mechanism so we cant just say what we are going to change.
  7. The body is like a robot and the brain is the controller but the brain has a programme and the brain has a spirit.  When it runs from the spirit we can create heaven on earth.  When it runs from the programme we create whatever the hell the programme says it is.
  8. Look at the world, we have been separated for thousands of years by people competing against each other and look how it is turning out, it is causing our own extinction.   We are all one and we need to live like this with compassion and living from our heart
  9. The heart reads energy, Quantum Physics says we are all energy.  IF my heart says wow I would love that – that means the energy says that from the heart.  How do you feel about this? Energy is a feeling, Your heart will give you three answers – I don’t like that, I don’t wanna do that or I don’t much care.  Always do the rational thinking but the last decision must come from the heart – if the feeling says you are gonna gain more energy then go for it but if your heart says no then go away from it  The answer is your heart and is the reading of energy.  Thinking followed by feeling.
  10. Heart Math breathing – This is a tool I have and love.  Energy can come together and pair up and make more energy, called good vibes and bad vibes.  We have been so programmed to think of the material world instead of the vibrational world.  Quantum physics is the most valid science on earth.  The field, the energy is the most important aspect of our lives.  The heart, Love is the energy, the  highest form of energy.

Okay so I said I would list the Energy healing modalities that Bruce has posted on his page and I am amazed at how many there are.  I deal in energy healing and practice quite a few of these but I cannot wait to investigate some of the others.

Being Now is not as easy as it sounds

When I watch my kids and their friends play together I am just so amazed and in awe of their total immersion in the world of imagination. They laugh so hard at the imaginery pet frog leaping over the couch. They fall out with their friends at the drop of a hat yet when it’s time for their friends to go home they don’t want them to leave. They forget so quickly about the arguments and focus completely on the games they are playing. I am always so envious at this instinctive behaviour. There is no thought of tomorrow, they have no sense of time and no responsibility.

I practice being now, I even have Be now tattoo’d upon my hand to remind me but I am still not quite there yet!!Which again is totally contradictory as if I was being Now then I am here and this is now.

Meditation and slow breathing is my go to for being now. I use my daily reiki precepts to remind myself to focus on today and my mindfulness to gain control of my now.

It’s definitely a journey and I am slowly but surely releasing my need to be chasing my destination.

What we take for Granted can be taken away at any time.

I cant even imagine a day without electricity, its something we are all just used to and take for granted.  My shower in the morning, hairdryer, quick use of the straighteners, kettle on, get milk out fridge, catch up on my fave Netflix programmes, lights and well just about every minute of every day uses electricity.

When Hurricane Mariah Hit Puerto Rico, I just couldn’t imagine how they were coping, but the day the electricity came back on in the school below is just something to be shared.   How happy all these people are for getting back something which we all take for granted.

The Gentle Barn Tennessee shared this heartwarming video of a pig bringing lunch to his brother who can’t walk at the moment.

“When we take hay out to the pigs pasture the first thing Henry does is take some to his brother, Horton, who is not as mobile,” they wrote on Facebook. “Sharing food is true love, and Henry is the best guy!”

So I am more of a dog person but I love all animals but after seeing this video I WANT A CAT….This is just the most adorable thing I have seen, cuddles from a beautiful little cat.

I am so jealous as I have a little doggie who I love very much but she just doesn’t like cuddles, its actually amusing at how awkward her eyes looks when I’m hanging off her for an extra long cuddle/headlock…  AWKS..

Police Officer Visits 93-Year-Old Who Was Burglarized, Plays His Favorite Piano Piece For Him

A police officer in the U.K. is being praised online for going above the call of duty when he serenaded a 93-year-old man with a private piano recital during a home visit after a burglary.

Two Nottinghamshire officers visited the elderly man’s home in Mansfield to check on him after a burglary. One of the officers noticed a piano in the living room, with a piece of Chopin music open on its stand – the man’s favorite song.

“I told him it was my late grandma’s favourite too! I said I could play, so he invited me to play for him, which I did. It made his day, as you can see in the video you can see how much he appreciated it,” the officer wrote on Facebook.

The officer added that he achieved great “job satisfaction” after dropping in and sharing stories with the man.

“Following a theft revisit today for a ninety three year old gentleman, it truly made me feel good about myself and the job I do. He felt wanted and reassured. He was really pleased that we had checked in on him to see that he was ok. He shared stories about him ‘getting his wings’, being a pilot, the war and sadly the loss of his beloved wife on Christmas Eve a few years ago.”

 

After reading this it just makes me want to go out and do something kind for someone.  I am going to start my random acts of kindness again.

I try not to read the News, I know to a lot of people that sounds quite ignorant but I find that its all bad news and really effects me in a negative way.  So in order to raise my vibration I am sitting here reading all these beautiful stories from around the world which shows humans compassion to one another and of course my favourite, the good old soppy animal stories that cant help but lift your spirits.

Therapy Dog Stuck In Traffic Jam Helps A Man Who Desperately Needed A Hug

Sherman is a 4-year-old, 230 pound Old English Mastiff who lives with his family in Longview, Washington. He’s also a therapy dog who loves to visit with anyone who could use a smile or is in need of having their spirits lifted.
Sherman focuses most of his time volunteering through pet therapy by hanging out nursing homes (mostly to flirt with the pretty ladies), rehab facilities, and spending time with hospice patients and their families.
Sherman also likes to visit elementary schools each spring to teach the little ones about dog safety.
Recently, Sherman changed a stranger’s day when a man spotted his “big ol’ head” hanging out of the car window in a traffic jam. Sherman’s owner, Sherry McAllister, shared the touching story on Facebook.

“We were stuck in a huge traffic jam for about 15 minutes, without moving, when my phone rang. Since we obviously weren’t going anywhere, I answered. On the other end of the phone was a soft-spoken man who introduced himself as, Andy.”

“He explained he was a few cars back from us, and saw Sherman stick his big ol’ head out the window, so he called the number on our decal (we have a huge decal on three sides of the suburban with a picture of Sherman’s head, his name, and our contact number). He told us he had just returned home after a 3+ month stay in a nursing home facility. He was recovering from the most recent of multiple back surgeries.”

“It’s because of this stay in the nursing home and his failing health that he had to rehome his large breed dog. He is, sadly, unable to care for him any longer. This decision clearly broke his heart, as we could hear him choking up as he spoke. He asked if we could meet up sometime, so he could just pet Sherman. Of course, we told him we would love to set a time to meet up with him. He thanked us and we said our goodbyes, with a promise to set something up in the next few days.
As we sat there in traffic, I couldn’t get Andy’s sad voice out of my head. We decided to call him back and ask if he would like to turn off into the Wal-Mart parking lot to say, ‘Hello’ to Sherman real quick. We could hear his voice cracking over the phone when he said, ‘Yes!’.”

“When we met him in the parking lot, he slowly got out of his vehicle, using a cane. After proper introductions, we opened the side door of the suburban and told him he was welcome to sit inside the door, to visit with Sherman.”

“As soon as he sat down, Sherman came right over and started nuzzling into him. The tears started almost immediately… Andy sobbed into Sherman’s neck. Sherman just sat there, letting him hug him, hold him, and kiss him. It wasn’t long before we were all pretty teary-eyed, as he told Sherman all about his dog he had to let go.

Less Time On Social Media Means More Real Happiness

Being in this situation puts us in a privileged position.”If we’re the last people in history to know life before the internet, we are also the only ones who will ever speak, as it were, both languages. We are the only fluent translators of Before and After.”

That means being able to notice things like the reduction of interactions to numbers, and how that translates into quantifications of human worth. “I think it has to do with this notion of online accountability. That is, noticing that you actually count seems to be related to a sense of how many likes you get “So it’s like if a tweet gets retweeted a couple of hundred times, that must mean that my thoughts are worthy. If my Facebook photo is ‘liked,’ that must mean I am good looking. One of the things that concerns me about a media diet that is overly online, is that we lose the ability to decide for ourselves what we think about who we are.”

Teenagers think they have lots of friends and they are super popular due to how many likes they get when it actual fact they don’t get invited out any place and no one really wants to know them as they are all too busy creating an online personality that over shadows their true self and causes anxiety and depression when they realise they cant, don’t and wont ever look like their filtered photos on snapchat which then spirals out of control and before you know it we have an epidemic of Mental Health Issues..oh no wait…that has already happened. Take a Break every now and then and UNPLUG..I’m not saying its a bad thing to go on the internet, just use it as its intended as a tool and not part of your life as this can only lead to negative mental health.
